Respite services in Rhode Island

Family-Directed Respite program for adults

Family-Directed Respite allows primary caregivers to have some time off for themselves. At present, this program serves family members who provide care for people with Alzheimer’s disease or families providing care for persons age 60 and above.

Respite workers are strictly employed as relief staff for the primary caregivers. Respite workers provide in-home support while the primary caregiver attends to other personal issues. The Respite workers provide visual oversight only, they do not provide housekeeping, activities of daily living or personal care of any type.

For more information about Respite services for adults, contact The Diocese of Providence at 401-421-7833.
