MassHealth PCA program

Individuals with disabilities and elders who receive services from the MassHealth PCA program may contact you directly to support them as a PCA, personal care assistant or personal care attendant. You will be asked by the individual or family member to physically assist the individual in performing activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs). IADLs include household services such as laundry, shopping, housekeeping, meal preparation, transportation to medical providers, and other special needs. Individuals, participating in the MassHealth PCA program may hire one or more PCAs, as necessary, to meet their needs.

You may register as a PCA with Mass.gov/findpca or RewardingWork.org. The PCA referral directory, sponsored by the Personal Care Attendant (PCA) Quality Home Care Workforce Council, provides a FREE service for PCAs to find full-time and part-time jobs working for individuals.

To apply, call toll-free 1-866-211-WORK (9675) or click here.

You may list your information, including certification and experience, on the PCA directory applicant list, a comprehensive and current list of people in Massachusetts who are ready to provide personal care.

You will be paid by the PCA consumer, who receives your check from a fiscal intermediary. A Fiscal Intermediary (FI) is an agency hired by MassHealth to help consumers with the employer-required tasks of employing a PCA.
