Overnight Caregiver for Adult Son with Special Needs — Middletown
Shift: 10:00 PM – 5:00 AM (7 hours) | $28/hour | Including PTO and access to voluntary retirement savings program
Minimum of Saturday and Sunday overnights required to start

About the Position

We are seeking a dependable, compassionate caregiver for our adult son with special needs, who lives at home with our family. This is an overnight shift, and the right candidate must be comfortable and experienced working nights. Saturday and Sunday overnights are required to start, with the opportunity for up to five nights per week depending on availability. The client has needs for seven nights a week (including weekends.)

About Our Son

He is an adult with special needs who requires one-on-one support with daily living activities. On typical nights, he sleeps through most of the shift, though he needs toileting assistance. You will also communicate with family as needed throughout the night, and the family resides in the home. All ADLs require one-on-one care.

We want to be open with you so you can feel confident this is the right fit: every now and then, our son has a restless night. When that happens, he can be a little more physically active, and because he has limited fine motor control, his movements aren’t always as gentle as he means them to be. He’s never trying to be rough, his body just doesn’t always cooperate with him.

That’s why this role is a good fit for someone who is comfortable with a bit of physicality, who can stay calm and patient, and who can gently help redirect him on those nights. We’ll make sure you’re fully trained and supported on exactly what to do. The family is always available in the home for assistance as needed.

Compensation & Benefits

Important: This is NOT private pay. GT Independence serves as the fiscal intermediary and handles all accounting, tax withholding, and paycheck generation, as well as PTO and voluntary retirement withholding.

Responsibilities
• Overnight supervision and hands-on care
• Toileting assistance
• Assistance with ADLs: dressing, bathing, toileting, feeding, etc.
• Mobility assistance
• Light housekeeping
• Communicating with family throughout the shift as needed
• Documenting services provided (for DDS) throughout the shift as needed to help facilitate consistency of care
What We're Looking For
Overnight experience required — you must be accustomed to working night shifts before
• Long-term commitment — we are looking for someone who will stay with our family
• References required — please provide professional references with your application
• Patient, kind, honest, dependable, consistent, and a great work ethic
• Able to commit to and reliably work the hours scheduled
• Experienced with one-on-one ADL support
