Caregiver needed for Teen

Hello! We're looking to hire several Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to be a companion/mentor to a neurodivergent teen during low-demand recreational and leisure time funded through Medicaid's Home and Community Based Services (HCBS-IDD waiver).

Work location is both in and outside of the home, including driving the teen in your own car for activities as directed by the teen and his family with input from you. (See his interests below. Do you have a special interest or skill you can share?) Focus is on independence through relationship building and community engagement/recreation.

Our 17 year old high school senior enjoys all things vintage technology, history, Lego, gaming (x-box, wii, ps2 & desktop), museums, thrift shopping, travel & culture, cats, board games, movies, eating out, light cooking, libraries and lively discussions.

Experience with IDD/autism+adhd and an understanding of trauma/social-emotional needs/behavior is preferred but not required. Training will be provided. Must be ok with 2 cats, flexible plans, a nonsmoking environment and accepting the individual's identity as part of the LGBTQIA community.

You can set your own hours within the teen's schedule up to 30 hours per week. Ideal shifts would be 2-5 hours per day a few times a week. Hours available vary according to the seasons, (summer, holiday breaks, the school year). All availability will be considered in order to build a great support team: Day, evening, afternoons, weekends, seasonal, emergencies. Occasional overnight respite will also be available for those interested.

Requirements of medicaid employment such as a background check, drivers license, comprehensive auto insurance, and the use of an Authenticare app are mandatory. CPR/First Aid is preferred and may be provided if required.

Standard rate is $15.65/hour with additional daily reimbursement for any non-medicaid services provided such as your travel, mileage, gas, food, activity costs, academic tutoring, etc. Overnight respite is $102.
