Description

Position Details:
Location: Amherst, MA and surrounding areas

I have a part-time opportunity as a companion/driver/support person for my 26-year-old son, who lives in Amherst, MA. He is bright, curious, and kind, with a great sense of humor. He is on the autism spectrum and also has ADHD, so he thrives with calm, clear, and consistent support.

He is actively working on building both a landscaping and pet-sitting business this summer and fall. One of the biggest challenges he faces is that he doesn’t drive, which is why finding a driver is such a priority.

In addition to transportation, it would be incredibly helpful if the right person could also offer some light support with organizing and preparing for his job—things like checking if he has the right tools, his phone, wallet, water, the client’s name, and address. These are all executive functioning skills that can be difficult for someone with ADHD and autism, and your presence could make a real difference in helping him succeed and stay safe.

When his schedule allows, he enjoys getting out into the community—whether it's going for a hike, visiting a museum, attending a concert, or checking out other local events. Having a companion to join him keeps him safe and helps motivate him to participate in these activities, which are essential for his overall well-being. The companion would accompany him to these outings, spend time together during the event, and ensure he returns safely to his apartment afterward.
