Description
PCA/Caregiver for adult (18 yo) with severe disabilities (WK 5-9am; Fri 3:30-7; Bi-weekly Sat/Sun 10-6)
The family is looking for a compassionate PCA who can work to assist with a teen (18 years old) with severe disabilities, on weekday mornings: 5:00am-9:00am (i.e., get the client ready for school and put him on the school bus); Friday afternoons: 3:30-7:00 pm) and weekend hours (Saturdays and/or Sundays): Mornings or afternoons (i.e., these are flexible hours to provide respite for the family).
The client is wheelchair-bound and uses an AAC device to communicate. The ideal PCA needs to be trainable (mother is a BCBA) and be able to lift to transfer a 90lb client (lift-stand-pivot-sit) for seating transfers, toileting, and equipment transfers (such as a gait trainer). The client requires assistance with feeding (utensil use for some snacks and meals) and toileting (he is on an interval schedule and wears diapers). The client loves to be active, outdoors, and in motion (e.g., walks/strolls around the neighborhood, rides in the car, and uses the playground adaptive swing set).
