Description
Looking for Community Support and Skills Trainer for intelligent, curious, caring 19 year old on the Autism Spectrum.
Hours:
- Part-time
- Approx 5-15 hours per week
- Potential to increase hours in the fall
Pay: The hourly rate for this position is $20-22 per hour.
Key Responsibilities:
- You’ll be providing individual support to a young adult with level one Autism Spectrum Disability with the goal of working on skills to improve independence.
- Accompany individual to social and recreational activities to work on social skills.
- Use expertise to help individual improve their young adult social skills.
- Support individual when navigating new and tricky social situations with the goal of helping them to acquire more skills to manage these situations independently in the future.
- Work on skills and strategies for times of emotional dysregulation.
- Provide transportation as needed to activities and community outings. Often, this will be short car rides in your vehicle, but also to accompany individual on PVTA bus rides to gain comfort and confidence using the bus system.
- To include accompanying individual to college classes in future.
Qualifications:
- 1 or more years of experience working with individuals with Autism in the community.
- Valid driver’s license with safe, reliable vehicle and clean driving record
- College degree preferred. Graduate student highly preferred.
- Solid understanding of Autism and how it presents in individuals without an intellectual disability.
- Expertise with skills and strategies for level one ASD
- CORI Check, DPPC background check, and finger printing check
