Description
Evening PCA position
Part time PCA position, 5pm to 10pm, Monday through Thursday. Responsible for meals, meds, showers, bed time preparation. May be asked to run errands, or drive to activities. Must be able to drive a large van, lift various objects, cook healthy but limited diet and work congenially other PCA's.
I have Traumatic Brain Injuries and Traumatic Spinal Cord Injuries. However, I am self mobile in the house on good days and power wheelchair mobile in and out of the house the rest of the time. Between therapies, doctors appointments and daily activities, I stay fairly busy.
The position is paid though the PCA Waiver Program with the Department of Social Services & Agency on Aging & Disabilities. The State requires everyone to pass a criminal background check and a clean driving record. Due to the nature of the care needed especially regarding neurological issues, prior or current substance use would not be appropriate. Though no formal medical training is required, a familiarity with TBI &/or TSCI would be helpful and a willingness to learn specific medical protocols is essential. Due to a variety of my medical issues, the house is smoke free and alcohol free.
