Personal Care Assistant / CNA – For Medically Complex Young Adult – CNA Preferred but Not Required

Personal Care Assistant / CNA – Medically Complex and quirky adult , also medically quirky according to many of my physicians.

Seeking a reliable, detail-oriented PCA/CNA. For the carers and be supporters and helpers out there, this is an opportunity to directly and meaningfully improve my quality of life through consistency, organization, and compassionate whole-person support.

This position can be a good fit for someone with prior caregiving experience, but it can also be an entry-level opportunity for the right person. Anyone who is responsible, generally competent, organized, willing to learn, and genuinely compassionate is capable of doing well in this role.

Responsibilities include:

* medication and schedule reminders
* medication management (filling med boxes, calling pharm, calling prescribers)
* helping establish and reinforce routines around medications, meals, hydration, and appts
* tracking time-sensitive medications (including patches)
* transportation to medical appointments within approximately 30 minutes of home base (generally from greenfield or Amherst to Springfield is the range)
* occasional escort/support for specialty medical appointments in Boston, which can involve long days (transport provided through insurance)
* mobility assistance on more difficult days
* grooming and personal care assistance as needed
* meal preparation and light housekeeping
* assistance organizing medical supplies and living space
* monitoring for changes in condition and communicating concerns appropriately
* support during periods of fatigue, brain fog, or physical limitation
*administrative support like scheduling appts, making new location transportation requests and booking trips

Required:

* reliable transportation
* smoke-free vehicle
* dependable attendance and punctuality
* comfort working with medically complex clients
* ability to follow written routines/checklists

Basic to moderate cooking skills strongly preferred. Have dietary limitations that require making most meals from scratch / homemade

I’m dealing with complex chronic medical conditions including:

* heart failure
* chronic respiratory disease requiring continuous oxygen
* MCAS (mast cell activation syndrome)
* POTS/dysautonomia
* tethered cord syndrome
* Chiari malformation
* severe fatigue and fluctuating stamina
* mobility limitations
* frequent medical appointments
* complex medication scheduling
* periods of cognitive overload/brain fog related to illness

There are multiple overlapping medical conditions involved, and the right person should be open to learning and becoming familiar with my specific needs and routines over time. Curiosity, adaptability, and willingness to learn are invaluable.

Weekday flexibility is strongly preferred. Weekend availability or flexibility is also a major plus.
