Individual Home Support needed for Adult

Description

Looking for an Adult Companion to provide skill-based learning to a young fun woman, with a vision impairment and alternative learning style. Looking for an energetic, fun, reliable, and respectful employee. Averaging 6 hours a week, with the possibility of increasing to 15 hours a week during the summer months. Hours primarily from 10am – 2pm, days flexible during the week with weekend as negotiated.

Must have reliable transportation in order to provide transportation to community activities and shopping. Must be able to pass a CORI check and National Background Fingerprinting check. Basic first aid skills are preferred.

This position requires working in a private home where no smoking is permitted on premises.

Job Duties
Cooking
Creating a meal plan (in accordance with nutritional/ health goals)
Developing grocery list and offering support to maintain grocery shopping budget
Grocery shopping for items, providing transportation to and from grocery store
Assisting in meal preparation and teaching cooking skills

Laundry
Learning to use the community laundry machine
Navigating the Laundry App for payment when doing laundry at home
Verbal prompts to complete all laundry steps and reminders if necessary

Cleaning
Learning how to clean the shower, clean the floors, doing dishes, organizing, etc…
Visual impairment prompts and learning adaptive strategies to aversions

Community Outings
Identify activities of interest within the community
Engage with the individual within the community and for social recreation
Be open and able to have conversations about new relationships and roles within the community
Assist in understanding relationships/ boundaries to enhance community connection.
Support community integration and social interests through meaningful experiences; and building and maintaining positive relationships within the local community
