Description
We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and engaged caregiver to assist a friendly 30-year-old man with Autism during morning hours. (Preferably, we are looking for a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), or skilled, experienced direct support professional.) The ideal candidate will help establish a positive daily routine, promote independence, and provide support with community and life skills activities as needed. The ideal candidate will also follow a daily schedule/protocol that will be provided upon completion of the hiring process. This protocol includes ADLs/IADLs, as well as the completion of Soundsory Somatosensory Movement, Interactive Metronome, as well as Neuralign Cognitive Training.
Responsibilities:
•Assist with morning routines and daily living activities
•Encourage independence and self-help skills
•Provide social engagement and positive interaction
•Support participation in recreational, educational, or therapeutic activities
•Help maintain a structured and supportive environment
•Communicate observations and progress with family/caregivers as appropriate
•Ensure the individual's safety, well-being, and comfort at all times
Qualifications
•COTA, Direct Support Professional (DSP), caregiver, special education, human services,
or related experience preferred
•Experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder is strongly
preferred
•Patient, reliable, and compassionate personality
•Strong communication and interpersonal skills
•Ability to follow established routines and support plans
•Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred
•Background check required
Schedule Details:
•Approximately 2 hours per morning
•4–5 weekdays per week
•Flexible start time within morning hours (preferably around 7:00 am if available)
Ideal Candidate:
This position is well-suited for a COTA seeking supplemental hours, a DSP, a special education
professional, occupational therapy student, retired healthcare worker, or an experienced caregiver who enjoys helping adults with developmental disabilities build independence and confidence.
