Respite Worker needed for Child

Description

Hello! We're looking for our daughter's first ever respite provider through DDS/GTI. Hours are before school from 6:30-8:30 (wake to bus), and 6:00-8:00pm. Either mom or dad will be present for the majority of these hours. There is also an 8 year old typical child in the home, as well as a very friendly 60 lb dog.

Requirements:
- Comfortable lifting 80 lb, 55in tall child from floor, wheelchair, etc.
- Reliable car (we're two mile from nearest bus stop)
- Fluent in English

Mornings responsibilities will be following a morning routine, including: breakfast, meds, toileting, hand washing, packing lunch/snack for school, with the goal being that she does this routine with increasing independence. Some light housework (loading dishwasher, picking up living areas to assist with wheelchair access, )
Evening responsibilities will be assisting with dinner and bedtime routine. This includes toileting, feeding, light housekeeping (mostly physical position and encouraging Ali to clean up her space), guiding toothbrushing, etc.

Ali uses a manual wheelchair and has no weight bearing, so needs assistance with transfers. She also is in the process of toilet training, so utilizes diapers and pull ups. She is not the best at self-feeding. While she is quite independent in her wheelchair, a surgery in April put her mobility back significantly, so she needs help relearning a lot of her mobility skills. An ideal candidate will be comfortable with providing encouragement while she struggles, redirecting her back to task (repeatedly), and learning about adaptive equipment.

Ali is engaging, silly, sly, and will have you laughing. She is determined, especially to pickpocket you for your phone. She loves taking photos and videos, her dog, and lots of sensory input. Ideal candidates want to play hard and work hard (getting her to the top of a slide is not as easy as it was 5 years ago), and that Alicia will love.
