Description
The Individual Life Coach supports the client’s continued development of independent living skills, personal judgment, and reflective decision-making. The coach works through regular conversations and structured reflection to help the client understand her daily experiences, prepare for upcoming activities, and build confidence in managing aspects of adult life.
The coach helps the client review her daily and weekly plans, discuss how events unfolded, and identify strategies for improvement when challenges arise. The role also supports her in areas such as budgeting for weekly activities, preparing for weather and scheduling conditions, and reflecting on social interactions so that communication and decision-making continue to improve.
The Life Coach provides guidance through listening, modeling, feedback, and encouragement. The focus of the role is skill development, confidence building, and growing independence, while respecting the client's personal preferences and existing strengths.
Interactions typically occur through scheduled phone or video conversations several times per week, with occasional in-person meetings as appropriate.
Social work credentials or prior work experience with adults with Down Syndrome preferred.
